The Hearst Public Library in Lead has added many exciting new materials to its collection. Recently purchased in both CD and book formats are: “True Detectives” by Jonathan Kellerman, “Until It’s Over” by Nicci French, “The 8th Confession” by James Patterson, “Lavender Morning” by Jude Deveraux, “Just Take My Heart” by Mary Higgins Clark, “First Family” by David Baldacci, “Still Life” by Joy Fielding, “Heart and Soul” by Maeve Binchy, “The Piano Teacher” by Janice Y.K. Lee, “Terminal Freeze” by Lincoln Child, “The Last Dickens” by Matthew Pearl, and “Prayers for Sale” by Sandra Dallas.

The updated DVD collection at the library includes the following titles : “Eragon,” “27 Dresses,” “The Bourne Ultimatum,” “Spiderman 3,” “Fantastic 4,” “Lars and the Real Girl,” “Two Brothers,” “Supersize Me,” “Click,” “Cat Ballou,” “Juno,” “Mr. Woodcock,” “Alfie,” “Charlie Wilson’s War,” “No Reservations,” “The Simpsons,” “Dr. Dolittle 2,” and “Jimmy Neutron.”
Plans are actively underway for the children’s summer reading program at the library. The theme this summer is “Get Creative @ Your Library.” The program will begin on July 6 and continues through the end of July. Children may register, and pick up more information, at the library any time. Many new children’s books about drawing, writing, crafts, and art appreciation have been purchased for the enjoyment and enrichment of our participants.
The Hearst Library Book Club will meet on June 10, 2009 at 5:30 p.m. to discuss “Rising from the Plains” by John McPhee. Their next read will be the One Book South Dakota selection, “Buffalo for the Broken Heart” by Dan O’Brien.
